In the Garden
76" Square
This large Dresden design showcases a floral bouquet for each month of the year with seasonal wreaths and birds at each corner. The name is from a long time favorite Hymn.
A novice piano player at 16, I diligently sat at my piano with a hymnal my grandmother gave me and taught myself to play this song. It was my greatest accomplishment on the piano. Now, well over 16, He has made me able to make this garden quilt, my greatest accomplishment in quilting. If anyone had told me I would make a quilt such as this, I would have told them they were crazy. I never dreamed I would be able to do anything with this much applique' and do the drawings as well. I should have known, "With God, All Things Are Possible." My prayer is that you will take that to heart. God will always make you able to do the things He puts on your heart. He always fulfills your hearts desires.
I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.
And He walks with me and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own.
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
There's more to this story. I submitted my quilt to AQS for their show and contest in October 2010. It was accepted. Though it didn't win any awards it was hanging with some pretty amazing quilts. I was thoroughly blessed. Then, I received a call from the editor of the AQS Quilt Art Calendar requesting that they keep my quilt for a few extra days to get pictures for possible publication in the 2012 book. And here it is! I'm so thrilled and so thankful for all of God's abundant blessings. May all the glory go to Him alone! (scroll down to see the pictures)
